Wildflowers and Tiny Berries

Until recently there were no flowers growing in the bushland area near our house, not even any grass. The deer had gobbled up everything they could until the whole area was left bare. So this week when we went for a walk here I was delighted to see that all of the wildflowers were back! There were even little red berries that matched the ones on this Elise Design dress that I have on loan from Kayla.

Elise is a great home grown vintage reproduction brand with incredibly high quality pieces that have an authentic vintage look. I am always excited when I discover a new repro brand that really looks and feels like a true vintage piece, especially if it's Australian!

The Ladies with the Little Dogs

Some more photos from my weekend with Kayla! One of the funnest parts was being able to pick out our outfits together and coordinate them - something I have always wanted to do. On that particular morning we both decided on wearing Bernie Dexter's beautiful Parisian print dresses for a stroll along the waterfront, and Fifi and Leo came along!

Lets go Sailing

My favorite part of the Sydney trip was staying with Kayla and her lovely family who live by the central coast for a few days. I was completely blown away by how beautiful everything is on the peninsular and when it was time to leave I couldn't help wondering whether it might just be possible to move there to live later this year - we'll have to see! It would be amazing to live near the beach, and of course the wonderful friends I have there.

Even though technically its autumn there are still days where its warm enough to bust out summery outfits and since we were by the beach I had to use the opportunity to wear at least one nautical outfit! I had a great time going through Kayla's wardrobe and trying on all her clothes and she was very kind to lend me these shorts to wear to the waterfront - now I think I need to get my own pair!

Darlinghurst Nights

I'm back in Brisbane now and I've been sorting through photos taken last week when I was still in Sydney and having an amazing time. I was lucky to spend a few days hanging out with Kayla and Renee who I met through blogging and it couldn't have been more wonderful, I only wish we didn't live so far away!

We took these photos in the afternoon on our way to have dinner at a club in Surry Hills. Kayla very kindly let me borrow this beautiful velvet dress by Collectif to wear on the night as I had run out of cold weather appropriate clothing. The thick luxurious velvet was perfectly glamorous and so warm on a cool autumn night.

Autumn in Surry Hills

Something new on the blog today - new trousers, and a completely new place! My partner and I are in Sydney at the moment celebrating our anniversary and catching up with friends. We're staying in the most gorgeous part of the city - Surry Hills, and I have completely fallen in love with the beautiful streets and terrace houses. Sydney is one of the most beautiful cities I have ever visited, I don't know how I'll be able to go back to Brisbane - if only I had the finances to never have to leave!
I've also been loving the cool weather; this is actually the first time I've properly experienced autumn in Australia. The leaves in the streets here are turning golden and it almost doesn't even feel like I'm in Australia at all, it feels a lot more like Europe.

With this cool weather it means I can make put together more interesting outfits and actually wear trousers and cardigans! These trousers are by Collectif and are extremely comfortable and warm for winter. I am on the short side so I did have to have them taken up to fit me - you should have seen how long they were when I first got them! I've avoided wearing trousers for a while because I can never be bothered to have them altered, but I've decided that I love wearing them and have since bought a few more pairs of 40s trousers and 50s jeans that I can't wait to blog.
